Lauren is a Western Australian filmmaker and producer whose fascination with the natural world began as a child sitting in front of the television watching David Attenborough nature docoumentarys every Sunday night. That early fascination grew into a desire to understand how those stories were made and from a young age she began operating a camera and editing films herself. She went on to formally study film, completing a Bachelor of Communications at Edith Cowan University, with a double major spanning Film and Television Production and Creative Technologies through WAAPA.
In 2011, Lauren began her professional career as a Promo Producer for the National Geographic and Nat Geo WILD channels Australia, producing hundreds of trailers across both networks. She also worked as an Assistant Director and Production Assistant on the channel’s television commercials, collaborating closely with the networks leading talent, including National Geographic photographer Jason Edwards and Founder and Director of the Wild Cat Conservation Centre, Ben Britton.
Lauren later founded her own independent production company, working across music, travel and factual storytelling. Her work has included Nick Saxon’s Sherpa music video, created from footage captured during his National Geographic expedition to the Himalayas. This song was inspired by an encounter with a Sherpa carrying twice his body weight in materials up the mountain and became a reflection of the people and landscape that Nick encountered. More than a decade later, the footage has taken on new significance and has become a visual time capsule of the Everest region and the people who live and work there at a time of profound environmental and social change.
She has also edited projects for Scenic Tours’ with a strong focus on their Polar, Scandinavian and Antarctic expeditions, bringing audiences into some of the most remote and extraordinary environments on Earth. Showcasing the public the unique places where remarkable wildlife and pristine landscapes can be experienced alongside the increasingly visible effects of a changing climate.
As a hands on filmmaker, Lauren has developed, scripted, filmed and edited projects entirely herself, while also collaborating closing with specialists in the field. Across her career, she has built long standing relationships through curiosity, trust and a genuine interest in understanding the people and perspectives behind each story.
Lauren founded Wild Echo Films to create premium factual films and series that tell extraordinary stories while returning meaningful financial and strategic value to the work behind them. Her vision is to build a company where creative ambition and conservation are not separate pursuits but part of the same model where the success of a story helps strengthen the people, places and projects it exists to tell.
